Privacy Policy
Last updated: July 2026
RDM Electric ("we", "us", "our") respects your privacy. This policy explains what personal information we collect through this website and our booking/account system, why we collect it, and the choices you have.
1. Information we collect
- Contact & identity information: name, email, phone number, and service address you provide when booking, requesting a quote, or creating an account.
- Job details: descriptions, photos, or notes you share about the electrical work you need.
- Account credentials: if you create an account, we store your email and a securely hashed password — we never store your password in plain text.
- Payment information: collected and processed directly by Square, our PCI-DSS-compliant payment processor. We do not store your full card number; we retain only limited details (card brand, last 4 digits, expiration) needed to display saved payment methods and process authorized charges.
- Technical data: IP address, browser type, device information, and session cookies used to operate the site securely (e.g., keeping you logged in).
- Communications: messages you send us via the contact form, phone, or email.
2. How we use it
- To schedule, quote, and perform the electrical services you request.
- To process deposits, payments, and refunds through Square.
- To send booking confirmations, appointment reminders, quotes, invoices, and service-related messages.
- To maintain your account and service history if you register.
- To comply with legal, tax, licensing, and warranty recordkeeping obligations.
- To detect, prevent, and investigate fraud, security incidents, or misuse of the site.
We do not use your information for third-party advertising, and we do not sell your personal information.
3. Cookies
We use first-party session cookies required for account login and site functionality (for example, keeping your admin or customer session active). We do not currently use third-party advertising or cross-site tracking cookies.
4. Sharing & disclosure
We share personal information only with:
- Square, to process payments, card-on-file storage, and refunds.
- Our transactional email provider, to deliver booking and account emails.
- Government or regulatory authorities, when required by law, subpoena, or to protect our legal rights.
- A successor entity, in the event of a merger, acquisition, or sale of business assets — subject to this policy or a materially similar one.
5. Data retention
We retain booking, invoice, and payment records for as long as required by Washington state and federal tax and contractor recordkeeping requirements (generally at least 3–7 years). Account information is retained until you request deletion or close your account, subject to the recordkeeping requirements above. Job/quote messages are retained for as long as reasonably needed to support warranty claims and business records.
6. Your rights & choices
You may contact us at any time to:
- Request a copy of the personal information we hold about you.
- Request correction of inaccurate information.
- Request deletion of your account or personal information, subject to records we're legally required to keep (e.g., completed invoices for tax purposes).
- Opt out of non-essential communications (service and payment-related messages tied to an active booking cannot be opted out of, as they're necessary to deliver the service).
If you are a California resident, you have rights under the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA/CPRA) to know, delete, and correct your personal information and to opt out of the "sale" or "sharing" of personal information — we do not sell or share personal information as those terms are defined by the CCPA. Residents of other states with comprehensive privacy laws may have similar rights; contact us and we will honor requests to the extent required by applicable law.
7. Security
We use reasonable technical and organizational measures — including encrypted connections (HTTPS), hashed passwords, and a PCI-compliant payment processor — to protect your information. No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
8. Children's privacy
Our services and website are directed at adults and are not intended for children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
9. Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time; the "Last updated" date above reflects the current version. Material changes will be reflected on this page.
