Terms of Service
Last updated: July 2026
These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of the RDM Electric website and any booking, quote, or electrical contracting service ("Services") provided by RDM Electric ("RDM Electric", "we", "us", "our"), a licensed electrical contractor serving Seattle, WA and the greater Seattle area. By booking a service, creating an account, or using this site, you agree to these Terms.
1. Estimates & final pricing
Prices shown on this site are starting estimates for typical jobs. Final pricing is confirmed on site after we assess the specific conditions of your property (panel condition, wiring, code requirements, access, and material costs), and before chargeable work begins. If we discover code violations, hazardous conditions, or additional work is required once a job is underway, we'll explain the issue and get your approval before proceeding with any added cost.
2. Bookings, deposits & payment
- Booking a service requires a deposit, authorized and/or charged securely via Square, to reserve your appointment. We do not store your full card number; Square processes and stores payment credentials as our PCI-compliant payment processor.
- The deposit is applied toward your final invoice for the completed work.
- Balances due on completion may be charged to the payment method on file, or collected by another method we agree to in advance.
- See our Refund Policy for full cancellation, no-show, and refund terms.
3. Scheduling & site access
We'll confirm your appointment window by phone, email, or text. You're responsible for providing safe, clear access to the work area (including securing pets) and disclosing any known hazards on the property — such as knob-and-tube wiring, asbestos, aluminum branch wiring, or prior unpermitted electrical work — before we begin. Delays caused by restricted access, undisclosed hazards, permitting, or required inspections are outside our control and may affect the completion timeline.
4. Permits & code compliance
Work is performed by licensed electricians in accordance with the National Electrical Code (NEC) as adopted by Washington State and local jurisdiction amendments. Where a permit is legally required, we coordinate permitting and inspection as part of the job. You're responsible for any homeowners association or landlord approvals required for the work, independent of building permits.
5. Change orders
Any change to the agreed scope of work — additional circuits, upgraded materials, or newly discovered conditions — is treated as a change order and requires your verbal or written approval, along with any associated price change, before we proceed.
6. Workmanship warranty
Workmanship on completed jobs is warranted for 12 months from the completion date against defects in our installation. This warranty does not cover: damage from misuse, alteration, or work performed by others after our visit; pre-existing conditions not part of the scope of work; normal wear; or events outside our control (power surges, weather, acts of God). Parts and fixtures we supply carry the manufacturer's warranty, which we'll help you claim where applicable.
7. Licensing, bonding & insurance
RDM Electric is licensed as an electrical contractor and maintains contractor's liability insurance and bonding as required under Washington law (RCW 19.28 and related regulations administered by the WA Department of Labor & Industries). Our current registration number, bond, and certificate of insurance are available on request and will be included on your written work order/contract as required by law.
8. Notice of lien rights
Washington law gives contractors, subcontractors, and material suppliers who furnish labor or materials for the improvement of real property the right to file a lien against that property if they are not paid, even if you have paid RDM Electric in full (RCW 60.04). We do not use unpaid subcontractors or suppliers on residential jobs without disclosing them to you, and we're happy to provide lien releases on request as work is paid for. This section is a general notice, not a substitute for the specific written disclosures required for your contract type.
9. Right to cancel
If you sign a contract for home repair or improvement services away from our regular place of business (for example, in your home) for more than $25, federal and Washington law may give you the right to cancel within three business days of signing, without penalty (16 C.F.R. Part 429; RCW 63.14). Where this right applies, we'll provide the required cancellation notice in writing with your contract.
10. Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, RDM Electric's total liability arising out of any Service is limited to the amount you paid for that specific Service. We are not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages. Nothing in these Terms limits liability that cannot be limited under Washington law, including liability for gross negligence, willful misconduct, or personal injury caused by our negligence.
11. Indemnification
You agree to indemnify RDM Electric against claims arising from inaccurate information you provided, undisclosed property hazards, or unauthorized modifications to our completed work by anyone other than RDM Electric.
12. Governing law & disputes
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Washington, without regard to conflict-of-law principles. Before filing a claim, we ask that you first contact us so we can try to resolve the issue directly. Any dispute not resolved informally will be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the state or federal courts located in King County, Washington.
13. Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time; the "Last updated" date above reflects the current version. Continued use of the site or booking of Services after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.
